Issues & Enquiries / Re: API key problems
« on: September 02, 2017, 15:02:32 »
When you log in TS, the bot sends you a link. If you press it, it should link you to this forum account(or ask you to log in your forum account) and thus grants you permissions on TS. You did all these steps?
He tied his API key only to his TS user and not a forum user (that isn't lost when reinstalling) so his api key has to be changed by us, as once an gw2 account is claimed by a user, another user cannot claim it without an admin moving it for them.

Anyway fixed it for him now

what is your account name?

Edit
Nvm i see the issue, you have an existing user with your api key https://farshiverpeaks.com/index.php?action=profile;u=8702 Not sure why it doesn't say that though and instead goes through and fails later

Anyway you have two options
#1 Remember your password (or have the website send it to you)
#2 I'll move your api key from your old account to the new

Website Announcements / Re: Teamspeak Server Transfer
« on: April 10, 2017, 14:54:15 »
While transferring the server, we took the liberty to upgrade the voice codec to Opus Voice (10) and as alwies mentioned, re-enable avatars.
If you have other improvements you would like to see implemented, feel free to suggest them now while the server config is hot ^^

Website Announcements / Teamspeak Server Transfer
« on: April 08, 2017, 21:24:07 »
The Teamspeak server is going to be transferred to a new location sometime between now and tomorrow.
This means that the server will most likely be down for a short amount of time while the licence get transferred.

I will make an update on this topic once the transfer is due and again when it has happened
If you have any issues as a result of this transfer, feel free to inform us about it in this thread.

@Dansker.

Its just Doc having meltdowns in teamchat and swearing at people and making fun of their mothers.
I would send you screenshots if I cared enough about the issue.

But its in the game so there isnt anything you can do about. Its just sad that people who are supposed be the representatives of this community on this website as well as in the game making a huge fool of themselves telling people they should go fuck their mothers and other profanities.
In game behavior is not something bannable on here (unless admins change that), but that doesn't mean it does not affect their position within staff.

I already discussed this matter once with you on a ts , i will comment once in a while, but will make sure their life is pain because this public pools dont matter much while they are manipulated by the Leaders of guilds like Dudu,Doc,Nora and followers of Bezainanas. I'm soory if i offended any one of them. But some people who brainlesly follow them might actually think about it and conclude it by themselves, There are also other Commanders out there who are refreshing for a change.
I am aware of some of the issues and have issued a general reminder to be respectful to everyone. However if there are still issues, i want you to either send it to me or make a post about it, else i wont be aware of it.

My dear god fun fun fun :D time to start playing wvw again while my favourite players are admins again, like warvick would say let's have some fun...

It's like i dont get it, like Nora's stockholm syndrome with Dudu that she has... I mean seriously how can people be admins like Bezainanas while he harrases other Commanders and people in pm's if they dont do exactly what he wants? Or Doc swearing at ppl on map chat every day over and over again discussing pointless things. Is this how we represent our little community? With people like Bezainanas? Doc? How long we have to endure them just because they are commanders? We give them power so they could play gods and swear at us in map chat? Is this what we voted for? People actually support that? I left Dudu out of this for now he is other case which needs to be dealt later on...
If people within the admin/mod group is harassing you, feel free to either send it to me or create a public forum post on the subject, else it wont get any attention.

Issues & Enquiries / Re: Election Audit

Regardless of William Occam perceiving to be very smart, you do not disprove claims with assumptions and theoretical possibilities, you can only do it with hard facts, which you are clearly uninclined to do.

The fact remains that one person can vote with multiple authenticated accounts, which completely discredits the outcome of the election.

Unless hard physical evidence is presented of legitimacy that it is not the case, the election will carry the reputation of being rigged, simple.
I cannot prove authenticity, as i did state, however i have shown evidence that suggest that it has not been manipulated (assuming you trust me as the source)

An interesting concept of security over the public internet, is that we know it isn't secure, but we still trust it enough to use it.
HTTPS with the little green icon in your browser, just means it is much less likely to be insecure" but in reality, there is a single point of failure in the HTTPS process that involves shady as fuck entities, aka Certificate Authorities. see http://www.howtogeek.com/182425/5-serious-problems-with-https-and-ssl-security-on-the-web/

But still, banks trust this system "enough" to allow you to transfer huge sums of money daily.

Let me make a counter question to you.

How will you construct an election over the internet that can prove authenticity with the following requirements
  • Must not require custom client executed code
  • Does not require the purchase of the client certificate...
  • Does not require technical knowhow, e.g. port forwarding for creation of free client certificates. Not sure if such a service even exist, but it could i guess, something like LetsEncrypt.
Keep in mind, this is a game for most people.

Seems topic is locked, feel free to continue the conversation with me over pm's

Oh and about cookies, i think most people know how to clear cookies, so they definitely aren't reliable.

The only proof of authenticity available is the API Key, which proves they spent money on a GW2 account. Outside that, it is the internet, you can't do much else.

I am at least of the belief that Occam's razor is perfectly applicable in this instance.

What that query does is retrieve the distinct user accounts that voted.

What I am claiming is that one person can have multiple user accounts to vote with to manipulate the election result.

Where there are no proper IP address, MAC address, Hardware ID (hard drive or motherboard), or even bloody cookie checks the results are open for manipulation.

I am therefore challenging you to prove me wrong in my claim with physical evidence from the logged data.

Unique IP address verification is one measure to use, but even this is not reliable due frequent IP address changes by ISPs and VPN usage.

I don't know what you code with, but here are some hints....

The user is assuming the C# installation is running on the client. e.g imagine Terraria that is written in C# want to get your MAC Address, it can, because it is installed on your pc.

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/4084402/get-hard-disk-serial-number
C# again and once again installed on the client.

As i said, unless a program developed by me (could be in C#) is installed on the client, there is no way to get that information

Honestly, it isn't that difficult to predict the outcome of the election, the people who win, will be the people who can motivate the most people to get on the forum and vote and in the case of guild leaders, that is an easy task.

Dansker, as technical admin, can you confirm whether there IP, MAC and hardware address checks to determined unique and distinct voters?

In other words, is it possible for a single person to use more than one verified account to vote with?

Zero duplicates

Code: [Select]
SELECT COUNT(*) FROM smf_log_polls p
LEFT JOIN smf_members m ON m.id_member = p.id_member
WHERE p.id_poll = 41
GROUP BY
    m.member_ip
HAVING
COUNT(*) > 1

As for MAC address, it isn't possible for me to get that without you installing some custom software from me.
The way TCP/IP works, is that the MAC address is stripped each time a message is relayed between routers

The link layer containing the MAC address (and various other information specific for communicating with the target router), is basically removed each time the packet passes through a router.

As for something like Motherboard id, that is never sent over TCP/IP and would definitely require people to install custom software from me

Not sure why i bother with this but...

The only person who could edit the result, without anyone knowing, would be me. If i really wanted.

Some interesting info about who voted.
  • Only 3 people did not have HoT
  • Of the accounts used, only 2 was created in 2016, the rest was older (seems we need some new blood on the forum / in wvw, like we didn't know already though)
  • Of the accounts used, only 12 was created in 2015, whom 3 voted for dudu, 4 voted for hellbound and 5 voted for bez.
There is some other fun stuff in there also, but it could potentially be used to identify how some people voted, given enough external data, so i wont share that.

Query used if anyone care about what i actually looked at (poll_choice, world, created[timestamp], access[normal, hot, freetoplay])
But again, you will just have to trust me on that one.
Code: [Select]
SELECT p.id_choice, a.a_world, SUBSTR(a.a_created, 1, 7) AS created, a.a_access FROM smf_log_polls p
LEFT JOIN gw2_integration_live.gw2integration_user_service_links l ON p.id_member = l.service_user_id AND l.service_id = 0
LEFT JOIN gw2_integration_live.gw2integration_accounts a ON l.link_id = a.link_id
WHERE p.id_poll = 41
