After a lot of consideration, the Admin Team has reached a decision regarding FSP main VoIP.
This decision was made by the Admin Team instead of a form of public decision for different reasons.
- A public poll in any shape or size could be affected by inactive users, giving us an unrealistic picture of what's preferred on FSP.
- The idea of commanders picking the platform that he/she wish to command on isn't necessarily bad. However, we don't think it would help the community to run 2 platforms as a public service, because of the clear split it adds. It therefore fell short on votes among the Admins.
It therefore came down to either Discord or TeamSpeak only as main VoIP.
After the meeting Saturday night, we believe both platforms would be welcomed as a main VoIP. We are aware that some might feel excluded by the decision no matter what it would be, so we picked the one that we believe would give us the best chance of success as a unified community, working with present and future links.
Discord vs TS?It's hard to compare the 2 platforms, because of the major differentness.
In order to reach a conclusion, we had to look at the platforms individually and see what they each would bring to the table if we picked them.
Based on that, Discord had by far the most advances for the community.
The option of keeping Discord as forum only and use TS as VoIP was discussed, but it would again mean using 2 different platforms for text and voice communication.
Result:Platforms:- FSP Discord - main VoIP.
- FSP TS will be removed.
Events:- Any events organized by guilds can be hosted on whatever platform they wish to use except FSPG TS.
- Commanders should be encouraged to use Discord for open tags.
We want to stress that this is not set in stone and could be altered as we go along if needed.
The changes will be added within the next few days.
